Sprite Slushie

A Sprite slushie is a frozen beverage made by chilling a can of lemon-lime soda until it forms a crunchy, icy texture. The process involves pouring the soda into a container and freezing it until partially frozen, then scraping or stirring to create a slushy consistency with shimmering ice shards and a bright citrus flavor. This simple treat is visually appealing with a frosty, granular appearance and a refreshingly cold bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 can Sprite or lemon-lime soda chilled before freezing

Equipment

  • Freezer
  • Fork or Spoon
  • Plastic bag or container

Method

  1. Pour the chilled soda into a sturdy, freezer-safe container or a resealable plastic bag.
  2. Place the container or sealed bag flat in the freezer, laying it completely horizontal to promote even freezing.
  3. Freeze for about 1.5 to 2 hours, checking every 30 minutes to monitor the texture.
  4. Once the soda is mostly frozen but still slushy around the edges, remove it from the freezer.
  5. Use a fork or spoon to scrape and stir the icy mixture, breaking up large ice chunks and creating a fluffy, granular texture.
  6. Serve immediately in a glass or bowl, allowing the icy shards to glisten and sparkle with bright citrus aroma.

Notes

To adjust consistency, re-freeze and stir again. For a sweeter flavor, add a splash of lemon juice before freezing. Shield from freezer odors by sealing tightly, and enjoy promptly for the best icy crunch.
