Ingredients

  • 1 cup cold orange juice preferably freshly squeezed or store-bought
  • 1 cup lime soda or lemon-lime soda for fizz and flavor
  • 1 box lime-flavored gelatin (Jell-O) unflavored or lime for color
  • 2 cups hot water for dissolving gelatin
  • 1 cup green sports drink or green juice adds color and flavor
  • Optional plastic eyeball candies or edible eyes for decorative effect

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Large spoon or spatula
  • Punch bowl or serving pitcher

Method

  1. Pour the hot water into a mixing bowl and stir in the lime-flavored gelatin until completely dissolved, creating a bright, transparent liquid.
  2. Add the cold orange juice to the dissolved gelatin and whisk together until well combined, creating a vibrant orange-green mixture.
  3. Transfer the mixture to the freezer and let it chill for about 10-15 minutes, until it thickens slightly but is still pourable, creating a jiggly texture.
  4. Once chilled, pour the gelatin mixture into a punch bowl or large serving pitcher, then gently fold in the lime soda to add fizz and lighten the texture.
  5. Stir in the green sports drink or juice along with the lime soda until the punch turns a bright, eerie green color and becomes frothy on top.
  6. Set out the punch to chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or until fully cold and slightly bubbly, preparing it for serving.
  7. Just before serving, float edible eyes or plastic eyeballs on top of the punch for a spooky touch.
  8. Serve the Monster Mash Punch in glasses or cups, making sure each includes some of the eerie floating eyes for a fun, creepy effect.

Notes

For best visual effect, prepare and refrigerate the punch ahead of time. Consider adding dry ice for a bubbling, foggy effect at the party. Always handle dry ice carefully and never ingest directly.
