Ingredients

  • 4 cups water for brewing tea
  • 4 tea bags black tea
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves roughly chopped or left whole
  • 3 tablespoons honey adjust to taste
  • 1 cup citrus juice fresh lemon or lime
  • 2 cups ice cubes or more, to adjust thickness

Equipment

  • Kettle or pot for brewing tea
  • Pitcher or large mixing bowl
  • Blender
  • Measuring spoons
  • Fine mesh strainer or sieve
  • Ice cube tray

Method

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a kettle or pot, then pour over the tea bags in a heatproof pitcher.
  2. Add the fresh mint leaves to the hot tea, then cover and steep for about 5 minutes until the tea is strongly flavored and fragrant.
  3. Remove the tea bags and strain out the mint leaves, then stir in the honey while the tea is still warm to help it dissolve evenly.
  4. Allow the sweetened tea to cool completely, then stir in the citrus juice for a bright, tangy flavor.
  5. Transfer the cooled tea mixture into a blender, then add the ice cubes and blend on high until the mixture becomes thick and slushy, with a silky texture.
  6. Pour the icy slushie into glasses, garnishing with extra mint leaves or citrus slices if desired, and serve immediately for the best refreshing experience.

Notes

For a sweeter or more citrus-forward flavor, adjust honey and citrus juice to taste. Make sure to serve immediately for optimal slushie texture.
