  • 1 package roll pre-made crescent dough or puff pastry thawed
  • 8 hot dogs hot dogs
  • 1 egg egg wash beaten, for brushing
  • small edible eyes tiny candy or icing eyes

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Knife
  • Small spoon or icing tip

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Prepare the dough by unrolling it onto a lightly floured surface.
  2. Cut the dough into long, thin strips about 1/4 inch wide; these will become the mummy wrappings.
  3. Wrap each hot dog with strips of dough, overlapping slightly and leaving a small space at one end for the face. Turn the wrapped hot dogs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Brush the dough-wrapped hot dogs with the beaten egg wash to help them turn golden and shiny during baking.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the dough is puffed, golden, and crispy.
  6. Remove from oven and let sit for a minute, then carefully place tiny edible eyes on the face area of each mummy with a small spoon or icing tip to create spooky eyes.
  7. Serve the Halloween Mummy Hot Dogs warm, enjoying their crispy exterior and fun, creepy appearance.

Notes

For extra creepiness, add more eyes or use food-safe markers to draw fun faces. Be sure to watch closely as they bake to prevent over-browning.
